The legendary gryphon is the new corporate logo for Solomon Resources Limited.

This particular gryphon was one of a pair that stood guard in King Solomon's temple.

We have taken the basic design from some old archaeological drawings and made the gryphon a little more modern.

The gryphon is often depicted with the body of a lion and the head and wings of an eagle. Whereas the lion was traditionally considered the king of the beasts and the eagle considered the king of all birds, the gryphon was felt to be a singularly majestic and powerful creature.

Gryphons in mythology are symbols of courage and strength, and are often depicted as guardians of treasure. In Greek mythology the Gryphons were described as companions to Zeus and were known to be able to find gold in the mountains from which they fashioned their nests. Gryphons were adept at finding buried treasure.

There are ties in Chinese and Mongolian mythology from the Gryphon to the Phoenix and some historical sources suggest that the myth of the Phoenix was based on dinosaur bones found in the Gobi desert.

The base of the logo is an ancient oil lamp which is meant to symbolize knowledge, discovery, and illumination.
